Call for Artists – Art on Wheels 2017

Do you have work inspired by vintage cars or trucks, or have you always wanted to create work that celebrates “Old Stuff” and “Rusted Beauties”? On behalf of Bickford Education Center ( bec ) we would like to ask you to please consider donating your artwork (or a portion of the proceeds) to “Art on Wheels” Exhibition and Auction. All proceeds from this event will support bec, which is a nonprofit community organization, that raises money for its experiential education programs by offering art classes and studio memberships through Artascope in Yarmouth.

We wanted to say a special THANK YOU to those who participated in and supported last year’s “Art on Wheels.” We had a wonderful crowd in attendance and were able to raise awareness about art programs at the Bickford Education Center (bec). It was a great first year event, and many pieces of art went to loving homes. We hope you’ll join us again for this year’s event.

The theme of the exhibition is inspired by Erv Bickford’s beloved vintage truck and transportation collection. Submitted artwork will be shown at various venues throughout Yarmouth, including The Yarmouth History Center, Merrill Memorial Library, Artascope at bec, and online. Work will be shown from mid-August through mid-September, culminating with a September 23rd Friend Raiser and Art Auction, including a family BBQ and live music. Even though this is a fundraising event, we recognize that selling art is your livelihood. You may choose to receive 50% of the purchase price or choose to donate your art outright. If you intend to participate in the show, please sign and return your contract(s) via e-mail any time between now and September 1st, 2017.

A downloadable PDF of the “Art on Wheels” contract can be found here. A hard copy can also be picked up in person at Artascope during open studio hours.

In addition to the larger artwork, we are including an Affordable Art for All gallery this year. You are invited to submit small or unframed works of art with a $100 or less price tag.
