Nature in Glass One-Day Workshop

July 7 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Let us celebrate the summer by recreating our natural world in glass. The instructor will provide a large variety of patterns featuring flowers, garden herbs, feathers and birds, as well as a selection of glorious colorful glass. Students will spend their day moving through the techniques of selecting and cutting glass, soldering and adding a special touch to their piece with some decorative soldering methods. Each student will make 1-2 pieces to bring home and leave with the basic knowledge of the stained glass process. Your finished pieces will make a lovely gift or look beautiful in your window all year long. This is a beginner level project, but all levels are welcome!

$79 workshop fee does not include materials. A $20 materials kit can be purchased from the instructor at the beginning of the workshop.

We will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. Bring your own lunch or check out one of the local restaurants in the area.

About the instructor:

Dayna Sabatino learned stained glass in Berkeley, CA when she was hired to work at the Stained Glass Garden. She was drawn not just to the beauty of the glass but to the craftsmanship and skills. She takes pride in her ability to cut glass into precise shapes and build pictures one piece at a time. Eventually she went freelance selling her one-of-a-kind pieces at craft shows and stores, creating commissions, working in restoration with Starbow Studios out of Concord, CA, and building for the amazing commission artist Sabina Frank. She also took on hours as studio assistant and store manager at Institute of Mosaic Artin Oakland, CA, surrounded by incredible mosaic artists such as then owner Laurel True of TrueMosaics.

When she moved back to the East Coast, she ended up in Vermont where she was reacquainted with her love of seasons and antiquity, farmscapes and gardening, delicate floral teacups and lace curtains. She settled in Vermont, married and became a mother. Currently she works with her husband and family restoring an old building and recently purchased some fairly untouched land. Her artworks have softened and combine her technical skills with materials such as broken teacups and dishes.

Currently she is creating one of a kind works of art, taking commissions, and occasionally teaching workshops. Find her on FaceBook.
