Virtual Garden Party with Live Painters

Saturday, August 29th, 2020 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm

The Bloom Together Auction aims to raise support for local artists by directly supporting individuals making art and by supporting the arts studio that helps facilitate their work. Artascope Studios is a non-profit community arts center that works with local artists as teachers. We offer affordable, creative opportunities for the community. Thanks to generous support from community members, last year’s event raised more than $14,000 to cover operating expenses for the year.  We are hoping to do the same again.

Your generosity and sacrifice mean so much, and will assist us in our mission to continue to bring people together through creativity, expression and activity. If you are not a member, please consider being one to support art in the community.

To donate, please complete the form by August 7th, and email it to auction@artascope.org or print and mail it to:

Artascope Studios, Attn: Bloom Together Auction, 48 Railroad Square, Yarmouth, ME 04096

If you would like to help procure donations from artists or business owners you know personally, we invite you to print out either the Letter to Artists and/or the Letter to Businesses to hand out to potential donors, along with the Auction Donation Form.

Collaborative Portrait Honors Erv Bickford

Grab your square before it’s too late! The Third Annual Art on Wheels Friend Raiser & Family BBQ will be held on Saturday, September 22nd. For the last two years, many of us have collaborated on a fun project, the brain child of Susan Bickford, and we’re doing it again this year.

How does it work, you ask? It’s so easy–just stop by Artascope at the Bickford Education Center and choose a piece from a photograph which Susan has enlarged and cut into 8″x8″ squares. You can reproduce your square however you like and then turn it in to be reassembled with the other squares. The result is quite exciting to see.

The final piece, which this year commemorates former Yarmouth town councilor Erv Bickford, will be on display during the Art on Wheels event held at the Bickford Collection Truck Museum on Saturday, September 22nd.

The deadline for the finished squares is September 15th (coming right up) so come pick yours soon!

You’re invited to join us at the studio on Saturday, September 15th from 1:00-4:00pm to help finish creating our collaborative portrait. In previous years, people have used fabric, paint, paper, Encaustic wax, and watercolor to make their squares unique.

We look forward to seeing you that day. It will be great fun creating and chatting with other artists.

Fun in the Sun at the 2018 Yarmouth Clam Festival

We had a great turnout at our Art Expo during this year’s Clam Fest. With teacher demos and free Make-and-Take projects, festival-goers enjoyed taking a creative break under our big tent at Village Green Park, just down the street from the main festival activities.

Those who stopped to visit our Art Expo could make gel printed cards and origami peace cranes on Friday, and button jewelry and fish prints on Saturday. They were also able to watch studio members and Artascope teachers demonstrate upcoming classes such as Hand Building with Clay, Expressions in Painting, Beginning Metalsmithing, and Precious Metal Clay.

Our Art Expo is a great way to check out what we have to offer here at Artascope. Be sure to join us next year at the 2019 Yarmouth Clam Fest to make your very own keepsake art.

Art Supply Swap at Artascope on January 20th

Due to the expected freezing rain on Jan. 13th, we have postponed the Art Supply Swap to Saturday, January 20th. That gives you even more time to sort through your stash.

Do you have art/craft supplies gathering dust in your closet? We at Artascope sure do! Do you feel the time has come to let some of it go?

Artascope will be hosting an ART SUPPLY SWAP at 48 Railroad Square. Bring your new or gently used art supplies into the studio so they can find a home with another artist. And you might be inspired by what others bring in too.

Anything left over will be donated to various organizations.
